The Italian baroque trend inspired by Michelangelo’s work in the early 16th century has made its turn around. The trend will make its way into the fashion world in fall/winter 2012 and be carried over to spring 2013, as seen in fashion week using pastel baroque prints.
Baroque is notable for fine detail and very ornate patterns, usually gold embroidery and embellishment. Dolce and Gabanna stole the spotlight for this trend for their fall 2012 collection “Romantic Baroque”. It was an epically elaborate show!
“Heavy gold embroideries on black, inspired by ornately carved frames, were the principal motif.” (WWD.com, 2012)
While colored denim heated up in the past summer and spring, baroque prints, foil specks, hand-painted metallic denim are the new in-styles for jeans in cooler temperatures.
