Spring is in the air! Its about that time to go through your clothes and do some spring cleaning on your wardrobe. Instead of getting rid of all your old t-shirts and jeans, turn them into something new and fun for spring and summer!

Jean shorts with lace trim along the bottom are a hot trend this season, but can cost you the big bucks. Here’s a way to keep up with the latest trends, on a college budget.
The Freepeople shorts shown below will run you $88.

Instead of buying those, you could cut old jeans into frayed shorts and sew your own lace trim along the bottom!

Another option is to turn old t-shirts into fun headbands. See directions below:

After you’ve chosen your t-shirts, you’ll need to cut 5 strips and sew the ends together.

The next step is to tie an end, secure it with tape, and then braid:

After a quick stitching of the ends together on a sewing machine, voila – You have a brand new headband!

Another great idea is to cut up old t-shirts into a tie-front tank: this crop tank is perfect to pair with high-waisted shorts and skirts for the retro summer trend.

Remember to get creative and think before you clean out your closet, because a whole new wardrobe could await you!
